The basic idea behind Honbasei is to create a world based on the ideals and philosphies of the Orient, but not on any single culture or nation. Thus saying, you will not find anything in Honbasei to specifically resemble, for example, the Japanese or Indians.
When I thought of the Orient as a child, I always envisioned China and Japan, but, as an adult, I've come to realize that the Orient is, in fact, a much larger area.
The Orient, which is really just a fancy name for Asia, contains other countries besides those in the east. Other Asian nations include Singapore, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka. These countries form the south-central area of Asia, while Russia lies farther north.
Southeast Asia contains Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Western Asia, which borders the Middle East, includes Bahrain, Cyprus, Georgia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan and Kuwait.
